Swimmers report:

The swim went exactly as planned.

The night was clear with a very gentle breeze. The large tides made for an exciting journey.

A special thanks to my crew of Paul, Dean, Neil, Sean and of course Ceinwen. Your support, enthusiasm and encouragement made the swim not only possible but truly enjoyable.

Observers report:

It was an exceptional swim which laid testament to all Fletcher’s solid training and swim preparation. He maintained a steady and consistent stroke rate, was never in any noticeable discomfort and swam strong and comfortably. At every feed he was able to maintain positive and coherent conversation answering questions accurately, quickly and calmly. His feedstops ran smoothly and followed his guidance and direction. At no stage did he say he was in discomfort not suggested he wanted to withdraw. He maintained close contact with the boat and despite it being an overnight swim he was at all times aware of his surroundings. It was a pleasure to assist with this swim. The swim is also noticeable by Fletcher’s willingness and encouragement to his fellow tandem solo crossing swimmer, Ceinwen Williams, to exit the water first and be the fastest swim to cross the Bristol Channel. His chivalry and sportsmanlike character reflect Fletcher’s team spirit and motivational qualities. Being of Welsh descent, it was a notable effort for her to be recognized for her effort and to be pushed as hard as she was on the swim by Fletcher. A true gentleman and congratulations.
