2023 Committee
A small committe has been put together of past either BC swimmers or people with a strong background in channel swiming in order to help guide and shape the organisation going forward, those people (in no particular order!) are:
Meet The Team
Tom Chapman - Chair
Tom is a Porthcawl local and has swum a record 5 solo's on three different routes across the Bristol Channel including the first ratified swim on the WSM route since the 60s and the first documented swim from Porthcawl to Devon!
Tom also has an EC solo, 4 EC relays and a North Channel relay under his belt as well as 3 ironman finishes!

Ros Edmonds - Treasurer
Ros is another of our South Wales swimmers, she has completed multiple Ironman triathlons and several marathons swims, most notably a two way Windemere solo, three EC relays and a North Channel relay! She has observed several swims across the BC and in 2022 swam across from Penarth to Clevedon.
Victoria Lea - Secretary
I’m a mum to 12 year twins, who are both swimmers. I’ve been a swimming teacher for 26 years, level 2 Coach and open water Coach. I’ve completed 2 Ironman Triathlons, swam various lakes and race in a wetsuit. Moved onto 2 Channel Relays, 2019 and 2021. The. July 2021, Bristol Channel - Glenthorne to Porthcawl and then 2.5 weeks later English Channel Solo. Oh and I’m terrified of sharks Hopefully more to come if I can juggle children with training.
Sian Clement
Sian is an Aberavon local, in 2009 she swam the English Channel and in 2016, became the second person to swim Ilfracombe to Swansea, knocking an incredible 7 hours off the previous time! Sian is alo a North Channel relayist and Ironman finisher! In 2022 She swam the North channel, making her the first female to complete the Original Triple Crown and the only person to have done it with the longer Swansea to Ilfracombe crossing.
Stephen Price
Stephen Price swims out of Clevedon and has a HUGE cv of past swims, including Clevedon to Penarth both ways and a two way on this route, He has also completed the English channel and the North Channel, making him the third person to complete the original triple crown.
Phil Warren
In 2022, Phil put the first recorded breast stroke swims on both the Clevedon to Penarth and Swansea to Ilfracombe routes, in so doing claiming the longest swim by time of 21 hours 47 minutes!
Bryce Davies
Cardiff local Bryce swam a tandem wetsuited swim with Robin Griffiths in 2021 from Penarth to Clevedon. Bryce also runs an open water coaching company in the Bristol channel!
Robin Griffiths
Another Penarth Local, Robin swam tandem in a wetsuit Penarth to Clevedon in 2021. Robins swim was made all the more impressive because he had a broken finger at the time!
Sophie Smith
Swansea swimmer Sophie has both an English Channel solo and Jersey to France solo on the board as well as a Bristol Channel relay from Swansea to Ilfracombe!
Jacqueline McClelland
Anyone familliar with the North Channel will doubtless know Jackie, she is one of the brains behind Infinity Channel Swimming, a channel swimer, ice swimmer, Ironman and 70.3 competitior, coach, observer, and committee member for the ILDSA and IISA. We are very lucky to have her onboard!
